| Plot: | Rajinikanth is a village president in Soorakkottai, Thanjavur who only bows to goodness and moral fairness. These ideals lead him to clash with Prakash Raj, a rival village leader who choses to rule by fear. When Prakash Raj tries to extort land from an old man, he hires Nayanthara, a lawyer, to defend his case. Rajinikanth exposes the truth to her, leading Nayanthara to intentionally throw the case, After a few days, Nayanthara and Rajinikanth fall in love. At a temple in a neighbouring village, Prakash Raj tries to attack Rajinikanth with some of his men, but they all get thrashed. Prakash Raj joins the fight himself, but has a change of heart when Rajinikanth refuses to attack him in front of Prakash Raj's family. Rajinikanth's world revolves around his sister, Thanga Keerthy Suresh, whom he had to raise himself after their parents died. When she returns home after completing her education in the north, some members of their family feel that it's time to get Keerthy Suresh married, and they convey the same to Rajinikanth. Unsure of the suggestion, he consults with his sister about the idea, and she tells him that it's his decision that matters the most to her. Rajinikanth initially has trouble finding a suitable groom. All the grooms are afraid of Rajinikanth. At the same time Rajinikanth's Cousin Sisters, Khushbu and Meena wants to marry their brothers to marry Keerthy Suresh. They both initially wanted to marry Rajinikanth. But he didn't accept to marry them. To not let the relation get married to their brothers. After a lot of drama and understanding, they allow Keerthy Suresh to marry anyone of Rajinikanth's choice. Finally he agrees to let Keerthy Suresh marry Prakash Raj's younger brother. The day of the wedding, Keerthy Suresh goes missing, so Rajinikanth dispatches men to search the entire countryside. They finally find Keerthy Suresh on a train, trying to elope with a boy she met during her studies. Torn between his need to save his family's dignity and his love for his sister, Rajinikanth finally allows Keerthy Suresh to leave. An understanding Prakash Raj peacefully leaves, and Rajinikanth staves off demands for an honour killing from relatives. Keerthy Suresh shifts to Kolkata with her husband, where she loses contact with Rajinikanth. Worrying about her well-being, Rajinikanth and Nayanthara travel to Kolkata to find her. Rajinikanth accidentally eavesdrops on Keerthy Suresh, when he finds out that she is having serious troubles and can't bring herself to contact her brother unless she is happy and financially secure.
