| Plot: | Rajinikanth is a humble auto-driver who lives in Madras with his mother Sathyapriya, brother Shashi Kumar, and sisters Yuvarani and Shenbaga, and would go to any extent for their well-being. He gets Shenbaga married to her boyfriend, who is from an affluent family. Shashi Kumar manages to become a sub-inspector. On seeing Rajini's photo, DIG Kitty, who interviewed Shashi Kumar, wants to meet Rajini. Rajini hesitatingly comes to meet Kitty in his office. Kitty is reminded of a don on seeing Rajini. Yuvarani gets admission in a medical college, but the chairman asks for her carnal company in return for a seat. Rajini interferes and tells the chairman something behind closed doors that Yuvarani cannot hear, after which the chairman unconditionally gives a seat. Meanwhile, Nagma, the only daughter of a businessman Devan, travels in Rajini's auto frequently and develops a liking towards him seeing his good character. Nagma discovers that her father is a smuggler and decides to maintain a distance from him. Nagma proposes her love to Rajini but Rajini does not accept at first as he knows that she is the daughter of Deva (with whom Rajini has a past history). But eventually, he accepts her love. Anandaraj is a gangster who uses his henchmen to collect "commission" from all business owners. When Shashi Kumar beats two of Anandaraj's henchmen who attacked a man for not being able to pay commission, Anandaraj tells Shashi Kumar that he runs that area and his laws apply. Shashi Kumar and Anandaraj's fight is stopped by Rajini, who requests Anandaraj to beat him and spare Shashi Kumar. Rajini is tied to a pole and severely beaten by Anandaraj, but bears it for the sake of his brother without retaliating. Later Shashi Kumar again takes action against Anandaraj by submitting an arrest warrant which makes him furious again. This time after his release from jail, Anandaraj kidnaps Yuvaraji and tries to molest her in front of the public. To everyone's surprise, Rajini snaps and hits back Anandaraj and his men, thereby saving his sister. The beating of Anandaraj and his henchmen is so severe that it shocks Shashi Kumar. He confronts Rajini about his activities in Bombay, where he lived previously. In a flashback, Rajini lives with his family in Bombay while his siblings are young and studying in Madras. Rajini's father Vijayakumar is an honest man but employed with gangster Raghuvaran. This is because Raghuvaran helped Vijayakumar during the initial days, and Vijayakumar in turn decided to stay loyal to Raghuvaran for life. Rajini and his friend Charan Raj protest against the ridiculous behaviours of Raghuvaran's men, prompting Raghuvaran to kill Charan Raj; Rajini is spared as he is Vijayakumar's son. He decides to take the same path to destroy Raghuvaran and kills Raghuvaran's hitmen to avenge Charan Raj's death... See the full movie for full Story.. |
